ADD TO YOUR FAITH

2 Peter 1:5-11

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. 10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Peter is telling us to show actions. To mature in our life as Christians. Giving us qualities that are pleasing to Christ. He also says to have these in an increasing measure. So that we continue to grow stronger in faith by doing what is good. And in doing good we start to have less time to think about not doing what is right. I guess the one thing that strikes me as very important is self-control!!! How many excused can we make? I forgot, the devil made me do it, everyone else is doing it, she was so sexy, I lost my temper, I was in a hurry and didn’t have time! Each of these are a reaction of lack of self- control, of selfish actions. Action not guided by Jesus Christ. Peter says add to your faith, have self-control and with Jesus you will never fall from His love. And Jesus will give you a rich welcome into His Kingdom. ON THE WAY HOME WALK WITH JESUS always adding to your faith by right actions.
