BLESSED ARE THE MEEK

Matthew 5:5 – “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

Just what is meekness? Well it isn’t weakness, that’s for sure. In fact, to be meek is to be strong, but it is a special kind of strength. It is the opposite of being out of control. It is supreme self-control, empowered by the Holy Spirit. There are times when I have had to teach a class and, although I had studied for the lesson, I felt totally out of control. If I had taught it my way, it would have been a total disaster. But rather than to be humiliated, I prayed that God would take control of the lesson and help me to follow His direction. This control of the lesson was His, not mine, but it took supreme self-control to let Him have it, I kept wanting to inject my thoughts into the lesson, but God helped me to see that He had it covered. That was meekness, being able to let go of the wheel and let God drive.

The reward to the meek is the fact that “the meek shall inherit the earth.” This is actually a quote from Psalms 37:11. Look it up ON THE WAY HOME WALK WITH JESUS and let Jesus do the driving!!!
