OUR ADVOCATE

1ST JOHN 2:1-2

1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father— Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

2: 1-2 To people who are feeling guilty and condemned, John offers reassurance. They know they have sinned, and Satan (called “the accuser of our brothers and sisters” in Revelation 12: 10) is demanding the death penalty for them. When you feel this way, don’t give up hope— the best defense attorney in the universe is pleading your case. Jesus Christ, your advocate, your defender, is the Judge’s Son. He has already paid the penalty for you. You can’t be tried for a case that God has removed from the docket. United with the power and authority of Jesus Christ, you are safe with him. Don’t be afraid to ask Christ to plead your case— he has already won it. Tyndale. NIV Life Application Study Bible

When we sin it is easy to fall into self-condemnation. We feel we aren’t worthy to ask for forgiveness. And we are totally right that we aren’t, But, we are totally wrong for feeling that way. We have Jesus Christ interceding for us with the father. And what better advocate could there be? We can boldly come to the throne for forgiveness for our sins because Christ paid that debt for us. ON THE WAY HOME WALK WITH JESUS knowing he makes the forgiveness possible through him!!
