WOW, Now Paul really gets in our feelings! Don’t show off when we do something good, or when our kids are better in sports than the others, or when we can afford a nice car, or we have a trophy wife so we want to dress her nice and show her off even if it hurts someone that is less financially able and can’t dress his wife, whom he loves just as much, in expensive clothes. The meaning here is not to take pride in what God does for us but in how we do it. Instead of saying “my boy hit 6 home runs” why not say “our team works good together, and we Won again. Or why not park in the last parking place instead of in the front door. God knows what we have and what we do and how our motives are in what we do., When we do things in a prideful or proud manner, only man sees it. And a lot of the time it causes others to feel less than, or shame, or even anger at us or themselves because they couldn’t do the same thing. Be PROUD, ON THE WAY HOME WALKING WITH JESUS, on the dusty road in your sandals and your clothes for covering, not for showing off.
