REVELATION 14 PART2
Glimpses of the end
Time is running our for those left on the earth. Times have become so intense that no one alive would hear the message of Salvation if it were not for the angels. They have always wanted to preach but God never used them before in this manner. They have been used as special messengers but never preachers. So, why now? Why would God used them at this time of the end? For one reason, they are indestructible beings. No one can stop them except God Himself. However God has no intention of stopping them for calling out his last messages to the people alive on the earth. Angels are supernatural and visible. God allows all to hear the message so that no one can plead ignorant of God’s message.
Revelation 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth – to ever nation, tribe, language and people.
7. He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship Him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the springs of water.”
“Another angel” denotes another of the same as before. We will see 6 of these angels in this chapter. Angels preaching to men. They are finally getting in on the act of spreading the gospel. So, what is the message? Verse 7 tells us. It is an eternal gospel. The word gospel means Good News! Is this angel bringing good news? Yes. Good news to those who are God’s children. Bad news to the unbelievers.
Just what is that news? “Fear God”. The writer of Proverbs said that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Actually this angel is saying “Get smart, you need to fear God. This is God’s final call before the return of Christ in judgment. This leaves no doubt about the creation. There is no evolution being taught here.
All that we are looking at here will appear again in the book, but God is giving us now, a program which He is going to follow. An overview of things to come.
v. 8 A second angel followed and said, “Fallen! Fallen! Babylon the Great is Fallen, which made all the nations drink the maddening wine of her adulteries.”
Here is another angel. This time this angel is saying that Bablyon is fallen – two times. Babylon has been Satan’s headquarters from the very beginning. Even from the days of the tower of Babel, which was located right here in Babylon (that’s Iraq, in case you’ve forgotten!) Idolatry began there, Nimrod’s wife was Semiramis, queen of Babel. There is also indication that she was actually his mother and that she married her own son. She made up a little story that she actually came out of an egg in the Euphrates River – cracked the shell and stepped out fully grown. They worshiped her as the first female deity. This was the beginning of false religion, at least as far as we know.
This second angel seems to run ahead of the first angel and speaks of the future as if it has already happened. “Is Fallen,” indicates that God’s word is so sure that it is as if it were already history. Fallen twice indicates the fall of both the false religious system and the capita city of the one world government.
The 1st to fall is the religious system called, simply Babylon because it is center of witchcraft, idol worship, and all other occultic events as in ancient times. This religion will be like ancient Babylon. That really isn’t so hard to believe today. One only has to look at TV and Movies, or even look on the streets of our cities today to see how far we have fallen from purity and God’s Word. We will look at this more closely In chapters 17 and 18. Don’t miss those lessons as you are in for some shocking revelations. Chapter 17 will give us a closer look at the system, and chapter 18 will tell of the city which is the headquarters of the Infamous Mystery Babylon.
The 2nd fall is the capital city of the antichrists government, also known as Mystery Babylon. Could it be a rebuilt Babylon? Or could it be another great city, such as Rome? Chapter 18 will tell of this city in detail.
Isaiah 13:19 “And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellence, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. . What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah? Fire rained down from heaven. Right? Remember that when we get into chapter 18. We do know that Antichrist first uses the system for advancement, then turns on it. We see here, total destruction, it simply does not exist any more.
The 2nd fall is the city, God destroys it himself as we will find out in chapter 18. This proves Christ is victorious over evil – both spiritually and physically.
Here is one scenario that could happen, but it is just speculation. It could begin in Rome as the seat of the Government and religion, then antichrist becomes secure in his position, gets tired of the religious system, and offers to build her own city in the Plains of Shinar, the valley of Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, a center of worship, a “Holy City of Babylon”.
However, there is another scenario that sounds even more plausible. I’ll save that one ‘til later. Needless to say, it will prove Christ is victorious over
Evil
Revelation 14:9-10
9.A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worship the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand,
10. he, too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.
The 3rd angel message is very simple. Anyone follows antichrist and receives his mark goes to hell. No mistake – plain and simple. Someone has said “If there were no hell, Christ’s death would be a tragic mistake and a needless waste”. That is so true. But there is a Hell, and Hell is real.
Matthew 25:41 – tells us that hell was created for Satan and his angels. This is the purpose of hell. Anyone who follows Satan becomes one of his angels.
