DISCIPLINE IS NOT EASY

PROVERBS 3:11-12

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; for whom the Lord loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.”

Were you ever disciplined by your Father when you were growing up? I bet you got mad and thought to yourself, he just doesn’t love me or he wouldn’t have punished me. It wasn’t very much fun, was it? In fact, I’m sure it hurt, both your feelings as well as your pride. That punishment had a two-fold purpose. One was to

to teach you that whatever you had done, don’t do it again. And number two was to help you grow up to be a better person. God’s corrections are for the same reasons. Trials and sufferings in the Christian’s life come from God who uses them to discipline His children as well as to educate us in His ways. God loves you and wants you to be a better person. He wants you to learn from your mistakes and to grow in knowledge of what is good and right in the eyes of God. The discipline we receive from God is evidence of His love for us. ON THE WAY HOME, WALK WITH JESUS and let Him teach you to be the kind of person you ought to be.
