DO NOT DECIEVE YOURSELF

JAMES 1:22-25

22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it they will be blessed in what they do.

1: 22-25   It is important to listen to what God’s Word says, but it is much more important to obey it and do what it says. We can measure the effectiveness of our Bible study time by the effect it has on our behavior and attitudes. Do you put into action what you have studied?

1: 25   It seems paradoxical that a law could give us freedom, but God’s law offers us a true reflection of our sinful condition and gives us the opportunity to ask for God’s forgiveness (see Romans 7: 7-8). When we are saved by God’s grace, and salvation frees us from sin’s control, we are no longer slaves to our selfish desires. As believers, we are free to live as God created us to live. Of course, this does not mean that we are free to do as we please (see 1 Peter 2: 16); rather, now we are free to obey God

Tyndale. NIV Life Application Study Bible.

How many people could we put in this category?? Todays societial accepted norms TOTALLY go against GODS word!! Yet they accept all sort of things and act is if it is perfectly ok. And enough people are using GODS word to push back against them BUT THEY REFUSE TO HEAR and do what is right!!! ON THE WAY HOME WALK WITH JESUS and make sure that you are not decieving yourself just to be accepted by a sinful group of people or a societial norm!!
