FAITH GROWS IN PERSEVERANCE

James 1:2-5

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Here James (Jesus Brother) is telling us to consider it joy to have your faith tested. “A faith that cannot be tested cannot be trusted” because when we face trials and temptations and we stand firm in our faith and as we persevere the storm we grow stronger and grow in faith. We mature in our Christian life. Jesus knows we start out like babies. Like our parents, we learn to trust as we grow. Jesus wants us to mature in our Christian life like we do as we grow to adults. Yet unfortunately some of us grow more slowly into adults which as a result in consequences that we don’t like. Like prison, divorce or death. But like a loving parent Jesus in there even when we lack the faith to think, He knows best, and he will forgive us. And like loving parents He is there to pick us up when we fall. Or when we start to fall. All we have to do is ask for more faith and wisdom and He will give it generously. ON THE WAY HOME WALK WITH JESUS and don’t let satan steal your joy just because you go thru tests of our faith.
