PEACE IN SUFFERING

Romans 5:1-5 New International Version (NIV)

5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2: through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3: Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4: perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5: And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Do we have the peace of Jesus in our life? Only Jesus can give the peace and joy that we should have. In today’s world, as Christians we suffer. Maybe not like in the East, but we do suffer persecution. Here in the USA also. Look around, they take prayer out of school, children can’t have a Bible in school. But the Koran is allowed. The sin of homosexuality in now O.K. It is also guarded by laws that force a Christian business owner to be forced to serve them even though our beliefs are contrary to their lifestyle. Which is condemned by God. There are times such as these when we can’t see God’s plan. The perseverance of having to live among such evil can build hope. But our faith in Jesus is the reason for hope. God did not promise a perfect life or a totally agreeable way of living. But He does promise eternal life, if we stand for Him even when we can’t understand is ways.
