SHOW GOD’S LOVE IN US

1ST JOHN 2:7-8

7Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. 8Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

2: 7-8 The commandment to love others is both old and new. It is old because it comes from the Old Testament (Leviticus 19: 18). It is new because Jesus applied it in a radically new way (John 13: 34-35). In the Christian church, we express love not only by respecting one another but also through self-sacrifice and servanthood (John 15: 13). In fact, love can be defined as “selfless giving,” reaching beyond friends to enemies and persecutors (Matthew 5: 43-48). Love should be the unifying force and the identifying mark of the Christian community. Love keeps us walking in the light; we cannot grow spiritually while we hate others. The Love of God that is in us is going to make our love for others that much easier and that much greater. Look everyday to make that love seen and felt by those around, both friend and foe!! ON THE WAY HOME WALK WITH JESUS maturing in our love for our fellow man!!!
