The Greatest Commandment

Mark 12:28-31

28: One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29: “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31: The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

This scripture is also quoted in Matthew 22:37-39. When something is quoted two or more times it is very important. One of the teachers of the law tried again to trap Jesus in quoting the law, but Jesus answered with wisdom in saying what He did. The laws were tough and stringent and were impossible to obey all of them, 613 in all. Jesus reduced them to two. Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor. When we do this we follow any others laws that are written. When we follow Jesus teaching and let them live in our hearts and minds, our decisions and actions will show our love for God and for others.

ON THE WAY HOME WALK WITH JESUS and let JESUS be our example of the greatest commandment. And show our love for God and others.
