WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE COMES OUT

Mark 7:20-23

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Jesus explains His parable plainly. Up till Jesus came the Jews had food that was deemed unclean and they shouldn’t eat. But Jesus changed that and said the things that go in don’t make them unclean, only what comes out. Today’s society gives us so much more unclean food to eat. TV with sex, violence, drugs, homosexuality, abortion, selfishness, deceit, being better than others. Then children have games of violence and theft and sorcery. So much evil and it all seems socially acceptable. When Jesus comes into our life we have to separate ourselves from this evil. Or if we have to deal with it we have to still be responsible for our actions and speech. Therefore what comes out of our mouth is what is either clean(Jesus) or unclean(evil).
